Magnum classic

Not so long ago, Elliott Erwitt said, "People think I'm dead, because I've been around so long," And given that this 80-year-old is now a photography institution with such a well-known body of work behind him, perhaps it's not that surprising. A paid-up member of Magnum since 1953 and several times their president, Erwitt is famous for his anything-but-sombre monochrome shots that range from candid moments in everyday life to celebrity shots of Marilyn Monroe and of course countless canines over the years, too. Unseen brings some of Erwitt's lesser-known pictures together with his 'personal best' and offers an occasional glimpse of that trademark humour - his eye for what he calls 'the human comedy'.
